Workflow is a powerful yet simple-to-use web-driven application. It employs several sophisticated batch and parallel processing algorithms to meet the desired response times of the NOC.
Workflow lets the NOC staff model different business functions that need to happen automatically when an event occurs. The business function could be as simple as notifying a technician or escalating a problem, to as complex as providing customer or service context and assigning business priority to an event by interfacing with 3rd party systems. Once defined, Workflow automatically executes the modeled logic when an event is qualified.
WORKFLOW DESIGNER :
This modeling tool let the operations staff tie various workflow components in a flow chart type design to automate business functions. The Workflow Designer enables Business Analysts with minimum programming experience to define rules using a web-based GUI tool to define the business rules.
SCHEDULED TRIGGERS :
The operations staff defines scheduled triggers to perform a set of operations one or more times on the active alarm list. With Scheduled Triggers, operations staff can define the specific intervals at which to perform actions such as alarm escalation, notification or device resets and more.
FILTERS :
Workflow Filters enable operations staff define an arbitrary filter criterion using any alarm object attributes and logical (AND, OR) operations. The workflow uses a simple but rich expression technology that lets the workflow designer filter massive sets of data collected by the system quickly.
ACTIONS :
Workflow Actions perform an operation on each alarm in the active alarm list. The actions may modify the alarm in several ways, including clearing it. The operations staff can define workflow actions to notify a user, group or customer if an event meets specific criteria. The notification methods can be customized to include event specific information and can be sent as phone messages, text messages or emails. The actions can be defined to automatically add or escalate the business priority on an event. The events can be enriched by defining interfaces to 3rd party business intelligence, inventory and management systems to obtain business data related to the event. Such information can be appended to the event record to speed up the event resolution process.
