DRAMATICALLY REDUCES ADMINISTRATION AND MAINTENANCE COSTS

The Device Manager consolidates the device inventory from the entire network, servers, systems, security, facilities, and applications infrastructure.

The operations staff and executive management can view the entire infrastructure at a single spot, which makes managing it effective and simple. The Device Manager offer tools to simplify management during the various phases of the device life cycle. It can connect directly with any device type and/or mediate through an EMS, NMS or OSS system using all popular management protocols such as TL1, SNMP, CORBA and ASCII.

DISCOVERY MANAGER :

The Discovery Manager automates the discovery of transport, switching, router, server, facilities and security systems. Simply specify the IP address range and protocol type, and the infrastructure can be discovered within minutes.

DOMAIN MANAGER :

Once discovered through the Discovery Manager, the devices can be mapped to logical hierarchical domains. These domains can later be used to manage event information and visualize the topology. Where applicable, the context sensitive trees are used to provide domain-specific views throughout the product.

COMMUNICATION RELIABILITY :

The Device Manager supports redundant communication paths to every managed device. It performs a "keep-alive" test to verify device connectivity. When connectivity failures are detected, it automatically switches to the alternate path to communicate with the device. When both paths fail, it notifies the operator about the failed communication.

DEVICE CUSTOMIZATION :

The Device Manager allows customization of the devices for connectivity, data processing and data mapping. The event templates can be used to parse proprietary text messages, define event-mapping rules, correlation rules and to translate cryptic proprietary event data to user-friendly text.

BULK MANAGER :

The Bulk Manager allows bulk operations to accelerate the process of updating large number of devices at a time. The Device Manager offers the ability to connect and disconnect by device. For instance, these tools can be used to stop or start processing event information from the device before and after maintenance windows.

RESYNCHRONIZATION :

The Device Manager's Resynchronization is a feature that can eliminate long drawn out manual audits. With resynchronization, all event information during the initial device discovery and after a connection recovery from a communication or device failure is accurately maintained. In addition, the resynchronization can be manually initiated to force the audit of event data.

TOPOLOGY MAPS :

The Device Manager offers straightforward visualization tools to view the infrastructure topology. The Topology Map views are valuable as they lay bare the inter-dependencies of the infrastructure and the service-level impact of a failure.

GIS INTEGRATION :

NetOmniaTM includes a fully interactive, and simple GIS-based topology system. The system is first configured by defining the latitude and longitude of each device and by arranging the devices in meaningful domains. The GIS system then presents the nodes or summarizations of the nodes (clouds) depending upon the zoom level and the proximity of the devices. This topology information is then layered upon a geographic map provided by a third-party mapping service such as Google maps, Yahoo maps, Open Street, etc. The operations staff can view all or parts of the network by zooming in and out of the map, or by selecting domains and nodes in the tree.

APPLICATION MONITORS :

The Device Manager supports several Application Monitors per physical device monitored such as ICMP PING, SNMP-GET, SMTP, DNS, FTP, NTP, SSH, Telnet as well as all Nagios scripts. The operations staff can customize the device monitors and probe passive devices to proactively unearth issues related to the infrastructure.

DOCUMENT MANAGER :

Documentation needed to troubleshoot problems is centralized and easily accessible. Operator guides, rack drawings, block diagrams can all be stored using Document Manager. Once uploaded, the documents are available to the entire operations staff from any web browser.

CRAFT CUT-THRU :

Device Manager's Craft Cut-thru enables the operations staff to launch device specific provisioning interfaces with a single click. The operations staff can save time by simply launching the device application right from NetOmniaTM.

RAVES AND REVIEWS

"Yadkin Valley Telephone evaluated NetOmniaTM and was impressed with the capabilities and the simplicity of user interface. The ability to monitor everything on a single platform, and having the detailed information about problems, allows our staff to resolve issues more rapidly and make us more efficient. The system is also designed so integration of new products and technology is effortless. We were able to integrate a majority of our multi-vendor network and go live with the system in just three days."
